In 1983, Mike Foster was competing in every freestyle contest he could find. He was always looking for the best board set-up to increase his TPM’s so as to perform at his optimum. Although the double kick design had been tried a couple times previous, Mike noticed that while the two tail system was good, it changed the function of the board when doing rail tricks. Mike wanted to design a double kick board that would have symmetrical ends, allow the skater to spin 360’s on either end, be flat in the middle, and function on the rail to preserve those tricks formulated up to that time. Mike discovered that he could move the warp of the tail to the inner side of the trucks on the board, instead of the outside, accomplish all his goals, and give the board a "nose look" at the ends. A problem appeared. There were no molds in existence to press such a shape. Mike went to work and created his mold to press the shape. Later that summer Mike won his first money as a professional freestyle skateboarder on his design. These boards were never offered to the public.
As the skateboard industry evolved to using the current double kick shape for all boards, freestyle was all but forgotten, and the choices for freestylers were slim or none. Forced to ride the status quo "or else," Mike finally chose "or else." In 1999 he decided to fine tune his freestyle design. The time has finally arrived to give all skateboarders, especially the freestyler, a new option. At Trinity Skateboards we feel this is the finest deck design to date, and we will be looking for ways to improve its functionality in the future. Know that when you buy a Foster Freestyler from Trinity Skateboards™ , that you have purchased the cutting edge of skating technology.
