The Decomposed Skateboards story……

Decomposed Skateboard's origin story started back in the late 70s when Witter Cheng was born in Brunei Darussalam. Growing up poor, his first skateboard was a Grentec, handed down by an older friend heading off to college. He never stopped skateboarding throughout the 80s, 90s and 2000s moving from Brunei to Australia and finally settling in USA.

The brand officially started around 2004 when the company Witter was skating for (Capital Skateboards) closed and he needed a specific shape to ride. The first Decomposed deck (freakstyle 1 model) was then made. This was supposed to be a 'one and done' release but soon after, other freestylers were recruited. Some of our early riders include YoYo Schulz, Guenter Mokulys, Keith Renna, Per Canguru, Joe Humeres, Russ Howell, Ray Meyer, Joe Flemke, Tim Morris....etc. One thing let to another and before you know it, the website was carrying everything from bolts to wheels to trucks from various brands all over the world. To set the record straight, the name 'Decomposed' came from Witter's obsession with collecting used and trashed skateboard decks; hence the journey from tree to artifact.

Still managed by Witter and his wife Samantha decades later, the purpose still remains the same; to give back to the freestyle community, providing a one-stop shop for everything you need, and to spread the word of 'kindness to animals'. Throughout the years, Decomposed's funds have gone towards supporting animal shelters and organizations. Decomposed has always been for the love of the sport and never for profit. The day, we stop loving what we do, Decomposed will close shop.
